Plains High School is excited to announce the January Students of the Month, Taylor Rains and Israel Contreras. Taylor is the senior daughter of Beau and LaChrisa Rains. Her hobbies are reading and spending time with friends. Taylor is very involved in extracurricular activities, including One Act Play, band, colorguard, FFA, and UIL speech and debate and mathematics. Taylor is also an officer for Student Council and a member of National Honor Society. One of Taylor's teachers said that "she is an outstanding example of leadership, grit, and positivity. Taylor manages her busy schedule with grace and determination. She is smart, witty, and has a genuine personality that can brighten anyone’s day. Taylor plays a major role in our FFA program, where she excels in her leadership role. Her commitment, character, and enthusiasm make her truly deserving of this recognition." Taylor's future goal is to pursue a JD/MD degree and become a psychiatrist and advocate for policy changes in the judicial system. Izzy is the junior son of Victoria Valverde and Daniel Contreras. He enjoys studying politics, history, and firearms. He is involved in UIL Social Studies and Current Events, and he plans to play baseball this year. Izzy's future plan is to join the US Army and later become a law enforcement officer. One of Izzy's teachers said "Izzy is a hardworking, highly intelligent student who always produces work that exceeds my expectations. I am excited to see how he impacts the future." Plains High School is proud of these students and their accomplishments!
