Plains High School is proud to announce the February Students of the Month, Aileen Perez and Eduardo Picazo.
Aileen is the senior daughter of Arnold and Jessica Perez. During high school, she has been very involved in sports, playing basketball, volleyball, and softball. Aileen also runs track and is on the powerlifting team. In her spare time, she likes to play volleyball with her brother. Aileen plans to attend college to become a cosmetologist/barber.
One of Aileen's teachers said that "Aileen works hard in everything that she does. She has a positive attitude and is always pleasant in class, which I appreciate. I enjoy her as a student."
Eduardo is the freshmen son of Eliseo Picazo and Rosa Jimenez. He is the brother of Adrian and Guadalupe. Eduardo enjoys playing soccer and video games. His favorite class is welding. One of his teachers said that "Eduardo is a hard-working student who always does what is asked of him. He consistently turns in quality work and has a great attitude."

After three days of competition, these teams did great!!! Libby advanced to finals and placed 5th in Dramatic Interpretation!!! Emmie advance to finals in the House Congress and placed 10th, and in Extemp she advanced to semis and placed 4th!!! Taylor advanced to finals in Congress Senate and place 4th, and in CX, her and Matias advanced to finals and they placed 3rd!!! Matias advanced to finals in Extemp too and placed 2nd, and in Congress Senate he is National Qualifier!!!! Special mention to Iris who stepped up for the team and Grant and Colter who had to depart early for the basketball game where they are successfull too!!!


The middle school calculator team’s hard work payed off! The teamplaced 1st at the TMSCA Academic Competition in Lubbock! Andi Coronado, Jan Lozano, Hadlee Bell, Kynlee Martin and Gus Kaiser qualified for state !!!! We are proud of everyone’s accomplishments!!! Can’t wait to see who qualifies next week. The Speech and Debate team was recognized by the National Speech and Debate Association, as an Official Chapter!!! This means that all these kids have invested lots of hours preparing, and long weekends participating successfully in different tournaments. So, well done!!!! Mr. Aguilar was recognized as well as a Premier coach!!! Congratulations all!!!

The high school art students had an amazing guest artist, Suzy “Pal” Powell, visit! She demonstrated how to draw a contour portrait in 3 minutes and painted with her signature technique in water color and gouache. Many thanks to Suzy for sharing her talents and knowledge!
