The February Student of the Month is Madison Alvarado. Madison is the senior daughter of Larry and Annette Alvarado. She is a member of the varsity girls' cross country team, the varsity track team, and the powerlifting team. She is a section leader in the Cowboy Band and a member of both National Honor Society and Student Council. Madison enjoys lifting and spending time with her friends and family. In the fall, Madison will attend Texas Tech University to major in Biology and minor in Chemistry. She plans to become a cardiologist. Madison is an accomplished student, and we are proud of her. One of her teachers said, "Madison is a very smart girl, and I enjoy having her as a student. I know that she will be successful in whatever she attempts because she is motivated and dedicated." Plains High School is happy to announce Madison as our Student of the Month!

Congratulations to Aiden Nelms, Nelson Avila and Stephen De La Rosa on a strong showing today at the boys regional powerlifting championships. Many PRs were set. Great job gentlemen. This brings an end to our powerlifting season and words can not express how proud I am of each and every one of you. To our seniors...THANK YOU. It is through your hard work and commitment that not only powerlifting but all other sports have benefitted. Your trust in the weight room has helped build the culture that you had a big part in building....TOUGH PEOPLE WIN.
