📣 Plains ISD School Board Meeting Highlights – June 2025
The Plains ISD School Board held its regular monthly meeting this week, and we’re excited to share the latest updates with our community!
Bond Construction Progress
Mr. Mills briefed the board on ongoing construction projects tied to the 2024 bond. Work continues on the track expansion, new parking lot, and the eight-court tennis complex. Demolition and site preparation are underway, and the community can expect to see major progress throughout the summer.
We also heard from Greg Huseman and his team, who presented plans for the new field house, new concession stand, and new ticket booth—all to be built from the ground up. In addition, they shared initial designs for a new indoor playground to be located in the former swimming pool area. These new facilities reflect our commitment to enhancing the student experience and supporting long-term growth at Plains ISD.
Athletics Update
Coach Purvis updated the board on summer strength and conditioning. He praised the strong voluntary student turnout and shared confidence in the continued development of our athletic programs.
Board Action Highlights
• Approved the purchase of 70 Dell Chromebooks to support student learning and expand technology access.
• Hired AMJ Roofing to replace hail-damaged roofs on six teacherages with new metal roofing.
• Approved the purchase of four new copiers and one used copier. The district will now own and maintain this equipment under a service agreement with Hilliard, moving away from leased machines.
Looking Ahead
As always, we appreciate the continued support of our families, staff, and community. With new construction underway, strong student engagement over the summer, and continued investments in technology and facilities, we’re excited for what’s ahead. Plains ISD is growing stronger every day—and we’re just getting started.
