Plains High School is proud to announce their October Students of the Month.
Kaylee Luka is the senior daughter of Amanda Prickett and Bryce Beckstead. Her hobbies include reading, watching Disney movies with her best friend, and playing board games with her family and boyfriend. She also loves taking her dogs to the park to play. Kaylee's future plans are to attend Abilene Christian University. Her goal is to become a veterinarian and hopefully own her own clinic. One of Kaylee's teachers said that she "is a joy to have in class and clearly has a strong work ethic."
Matias Aguilar is the sophomore son of Melissa Garcia and Dante Aguilar. He is involved in UIL journalism, speech, debate, and One Act Play. He is also in the Cowboy band, president of his class, and Student Council vice-president. Matias enjoys helping the elementary UIL chess team. His future plans are to attend the University of Texas at Austin to major in political science or humanities, with the eventual goal of law school. One of Matias' teachers said that Matias "shows strong leadership skills and is willing to learn."
Plains High School is proud of Kaylee and Matias. We are excited to call them our Students of the Month.

2023 UIL Girls Volleyball Playoffs Wink High School Vs. Plains High School
NOV 03, 2023, 6:00 PM CDT, Seminole, TX
Game should be broadcast live on NFHSNetwork.com

Beginning this year, high school basketball teams will shoot two free throws for common fouls when in the “bonus.” This change eliminates the one-and-one scenario. In addition to awarding two foul shots for all common fouls, teams will reach the bonus when their opponent commits five fouls in each quarter and team fouls will reset at the end of each quarter.
Rules changes were approved by the NFHS Basketball Rules Committee at its annual meeting April 24-26, 2023. Please extend grace and respect to officials, scorekeepers, coaches, and athletes as the change will be new to all involved.

Plains ISD would like to introduce Melissa Rios! She will be our new Counselor Administrative Assistant. Please help welcome her to Plains ISD!
Bio
Hello Plains, America. My name is Melissa Rios, but many people also know me as Missy. I am excited to be in my new position as the counselor administrative assistant for Plains ISD, after a wonderful seven-year experience with Denver City ISD.
I am no stranger to this great school district or the successful history that it holds. Being born and raised in Plains, Texas afforded me a great education growing up and made me a proud graduate of the Class of 1998. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Adrian Rios. We have 2 children, Bailey, and Evan. We are beyond blessed with two granddaughters, Alice 3 and Adilyn 1.
Supporting the school and being involved is important. I encourage everyone to be a part of this wonderful school district. I was very active for PISD in band, volleyball, and track. The support continued with my children in cross country, football, basketball, baseball, and track, including many years in the PTA and the Plains Booster Club.
I am thrilled to be back in Plains, where my roots are, and am excited to meet the many new faces that I see in the hallways.
Go Cowboys and Cowgirls

Our art & interior design students scaring our hallways! Come by and see it for yourself! #plainsproud
