
Plains High School is proud to announce the December Students of the Month, Gabriela Hernandez and Kyson Bunch.
Gabriela Hernandez is the junior daughter of Arthur and Stephanie Hernandez. Gabriela participates in varsity cheer, one act play, and UIL math and journalism. Gabriela is also the copy editor of the school newspaper, The Giddy-Up. Gabby is an active member of the Hope Squad, where she gets to inspire and motivate students everyday. Gabriela is a member of National Honor Society, and she is also vice president of the junior class. After high school, Gabriela plans to go to Texas Tech and eventually become an architect.
Gabriela is a strong, well-rounded student. One of her teaches said that "she puts in the work daily to make sure she is at the top of the class, all while having a smile on her face."
Kyson is the freshman son of Steven and Candace Bunch. He participates in math UIL, debate, one act play, and is a member of FFA. He is the treasurer of his class and is a member of the Student Council. Kyson enjoys listening to music and hanging out with
friends and family. One of Kyson's teachers said that "he does great work in class and always does just what he is supposed to."

Late Start Schedule for 7th though 12th grade. 5th and 6th grade report to first period, teachers will have their bell schedule.


Due to the possibility of ice on the roads affecting safe travel, Plains ISD will have a 2-hour delayed start time on Friday, January 10.

Plains Elementary art teacher, Ashley Conde, is the recipient of the Yoakum County Connection art grant. Ms. Conde will be using the $1000 grant to implement ceramics in the elementary classrooms. Plains ISD appreciates the support from Yoakum County Connection and to Ms Conde for bringing the arts to our young students.

JH games at Ropes have been cancelled today due to weather today.

Powerlifting practice tomorrow morning will be rescheduled to after school due to possible inclement weather.

Coach C’s Anatomy and Physiology are starting up the new year learning about the human body nervous system. Her A&P classes are constructing a model of the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system of the human body to get back in the swing of things after Christmas break!

Our speech and debate team had a great start to this year in Sudan. Our school finished in second place in 1A to 3A sweepstakes!!! Matias and Taylor placed 4th in prelims and made it to quarterfinals in CX. Emmi placed 7th in Congressional finals. Merideth had outstanding comments from the judges. We also welcome Ryleigh and Kyson, they were active observers, and soon will compete in CX!!!!
