Bio I was born and raised right here in Plains where I worked on my family’s ranch. This is how I knew from a very young age I wanted a career in Agriculture. I attended South Plains College for two years before attending and graduating from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science Interdisciplinary Agricultural Education in 2005. From there, I spent my first year in Dalhart teaching Ag Science. I then taught at River Road in Amarillo from ‘06 to 2014. In 2014 I moved to San Antonio where I taught at East Central until 2019. I moved back to West Texas in 2019 where I taught at Ralls High School for a semester. I spent 2019-2020 at Seagraves High School after moving back to Yoakum County in 2019. I now live in my childhood home with the love of my life, Sandi where we’re living out our family legacies raising animals and our 5 children. I’m looking forward to helping grow the Agricultural Department that molded me into the Educator I am today.

Congratulations to Logan Foster (Freshman at Plains High School) who earned a position in the 2020-21 All-State Band! This honor is extremely rare and very difficult to achieve. He had to progress through three rounds of auditions on specific college-level repertoire above the normal all-region music. Each area of the state accepted five clarinets to create a 25-member all-state band clarinet section. Logan finished first in Area A (out of 25 competitors) to be one of the five accepted in Area A. Due to COVID-19, the all-state band will be moved from February in San Antonio to June in Dallas. Logan will play with the all-state band for four days of rehearsals and a major public concert. Congratulations Logan Foster! #plainsproud

Students, Parents, and Community, The Plains ISD School Board held a special called meeting on Saturday, November 28 to discuss future options at Plains ISD. The school board has voted to allow the online option to return to Plains ISD. Parents and students now have the option to attend school online through January at this time. However, if your child is using the online option and has failing grades or more than 3 unexcused absences, they will be required to return to face to face learning. If your student already has attendance issues, they will not be allowed to participate in online learning and must come to face to face instruction. We will also not have school on Mondays through the month of December. Students will not have school on November 30, December 7, and December 14. Teachers and staff will work on those Mondays to record lessons and prepare for virtual teaching. If you are choosing for your students to attend school virtually, you need to call the school by noon on Monday, November 30 at 806-456-7401 to sign your student up for online learning. If your student participates in extracurricular activities, they may still choose the online option and participate in all events. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office on Monday morning and we will be glad to assist you. Robert McLain Superintendent Plains ISD

Plains ISD is happy to announce the newest member of its family: Cowboy Murphy. The name was voted upon by the high school student body and is honor of former Plains resident Murphy Luna. The Luna family settled here in 1905 and filed on four sections of land. In 1906, they established a post office and named it "Plains" because of the broad open plains of the landscape. The family also drilled a well and windmill on the now museum lawn, which furnished water for the citizens of Plains for many years. Plains ISD feels that this is a fitting tribute to a family that was integral in the history of Plains.
We have decided to move to the next phase of getting closer to normal. Starting off Tuesday, September 22, 2020, all students grades 7-12 who wish to receive face-to-face instruction will come four days a week. https://5il.co/l4nm
