Our girls played their hearts out.  It took the Cowgirls a few minutes to work out some jitters/nervousness, but once they did, they played a great game.  The first half showed some struggles, but there were also some highlights.  Carolina Hernandez came off the bench in the 1st quarter to provide 5 valuable points and some much-needed rebounding help.  Alyx Henderson also provided a spark off the bench by playing solid defense and battling on the boards.  Adriana Corrales led the Cowgirls in the first half offensively and also by garnering several steals.

The highlight of the contest for Plains was once again the third quarter.  The Cowgirls scored 23 points in the period, including 7 three-point field goals: 3 by Riley Earnest, 3 by Marina Corrales, and 1 by Tori Reyes.

In the fourth quarter, too many turnovers by Plains and too many offensive rebounds by Sudan led to a Nette comeback.  The Cowgirls fought  to the very end, but 2 last second attempts to tie the ball game fell short.

Congratulations to our 4 seniors: Adriana Corrales, Shelby Covarrubias, Taylor Fitzgerald, and Carolina Hernandez.  They finished their careers on a basketball team that won 29 games and is most likely the best girls basketball team in the history of Plains High School.  We wish them every success as they finish high school and move on to their respective college campuses.
