UIL Meets In Texas Tech

Saturday, January 23, Plains High School traveled to Texas Tech to compete in the Tech UIL meet which just so happened to be Autumn Friesen's birthday. The students participating were: Austin Taylor, Griffin Young, Adriana Corrales, Cynthia Rodriguez, Shaylin Taylor, Autumn Friesen, Court Crawford, Shelby McCutcheon, Brooke Wilson, Natalie Haynes, Denise Tarango, Mayra Cueto, Troy Alldredge, Nathan McCravey, Justin Taylor, Hunter Welch, Cody Friesen, Vanessa Cueto, Christian Valdez, Kevin Gass, BJ Barbour, Hunter Parrott, Sam Melendez, Greg Andazola, Emilia Gallegos, Forrest Booth, Dylan DeBusk, Maria Martinez, Jose Gallegos, Whitney Davis, and Saul Fierro.
Our Academic Team received the 2nd-place Sweepstakes honor at the Red Raider Invitational with 30 students.
Nathan McCravey had the top overall score in mathematics, and Justin Taylor had the top overall score in Computer Science. The computer science and mathematics teams were 1st overall. The calculator team was 2nd. The journalism and Current Events teams were third.
