All Region Band

A committed group of band students have been working hard since last semester. Their work paid off on Thursday, January 14, when they travelled to Abernathy. The eleven students participating had to play parts from two different etudes and two scales. Playing to the judges’ satisfaction would give them the opportunity to play with other students from all over the region.
Over 500 students tried out, but only a few for each instrument could qualify for All-Region Band. The students from Plains were as follows. On flute was Denise Tarango. On clarinet were Adriana Corrales and Fabiola Ruvalcaba. On bass clarinet was Trinidad Ruiz. On French horn were Carolina Hernandez and Miguel Lopez. On saxophone were Ignacio (Nacho) Lazono and Vanessa Cueto and on trumpet was Autumn Friesen.
We had six students who qualified. The results were as follows:
Ignacio-1st chair
Miguel-2nd chair
Vanessa-4th chair
Trinidad-5th chair
Denise-11th chair
Fabiola-first alternate
Sadly though, three students did not qualify, but they worked very hard. Better luck next year!
