B.U.S.T.: Buckle Up

B.U.S.T. is a program
formed by News Channel 11 to remind everyone to "Buckle Up and Stop
Texting" while driving. It has been a big problem around this
region. Many kids have been in accidents because they were texting.
If they had been wearing their seatbelts, the injuries would not
have been so serious. B.U.S.T. is designed to help teach people the
dangers of texting and driving. Not buckling up has been a problem
with people for a long time and texting has now been a very big
issue with teenagers.
During the Plains basketball tournament, Alex Brown’s parents
brought over the truck from her crash. They had wanted to show
everyone that if she had her seatbelt on, she would have had a
better chance of surviving.
The school has made commitment sheets. You sign it and say that
you will not text and drive, and you will always wear your
seatbelt. If you happen to get into a wreck, and you are wearing
your seatbelt, you have a way better chance of surviving. You can
make a pledge to yourself, or sign a paper at school, but remember,
every time you are in a car, make sure you put on your seatbelt. If
you are the driver, you can pull over and text, or get the
passenger to text for you.
B.U.S.T. was designed to help you get into fewer, if any, wrecks. So make the pledge today to not text and drive and remember to buckle up!
