Lady Wranglers Wrap Up Season with District Championship

The Plains Middle School 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams traveled to Wink this past Saturday to take on all district competitors in an effort to determine the District Champions for the 2009 season. The 7th grade girls went 2-1 in pool play matches with wins over McCamey ISD and Grandfalls-Rovalty ISD and their only loss to Wink ISD. That record placed them in the Championship game against Wink where the Wildcats outlasted the Lady Wranglers in two close sets. The 8th Grade Lady Wranglers had a similar record in pool play of 2-1 with wins against Buena Vista and McCamey and a loss to Wink which placed the Plains girls in the championship game against Wink as well. The Lady Wranglers had better luck as they won the Championship game in two sets to bring home the District trophy.
Both teams played well throughout the season and represented themselves and their school in an exemplary manner. Members of the 8th grade Lady Wranglers include: Chastity Chavez, Brianna Coffman, Eliza Caballero, Jennifer Lira, Taylor Michaleson, Adora Ramos, Tori Reyes, Jasmine Rivera, Brittany Roper, Percy Sosa, Bailey Stephens, and Bailey Winn. The 7th grade Lady Wranglers are: Miranda Armendaris, Addy Botello, Daitlyne Broome, Vanessa Carreon-Reyes, Perla Corrales, Riley Earnest, Dora Gallegos, Halee Lowery, Karina Loya, Liz Marin, Elizabeth Martinez, Iris Mejia, Shamila Pereyra, and Kassidey Taylor.
