Cowboys fall to Stanton

Remain Very Much Alive for 1st District Title Since 1994

The Plains Cowboys saw their run of 8 consecutive wins come to a screeching halt Friday night against Stanton in the final home contest of the season. Five turnovers by the Cowboys helped the Stanton Buffaloes to a 28-0 victory over the previously undefeated Cowboy squad. The loss moves the Cowboys season record to 8-1, and moved them into a tie with Stanton at 3-1 in District 7-A play.

Despite the loss, the Cowboys are still in complete control of their playoff destiny with one regular season game left. That game, against the 4-0 Seagraves Eagles, will play a huge role in determining the play-off representatives from District 7-A. Seagraves has already clinched a play-off berth, and a Cowboy win on Friday would clinch not only a play-off spot for the Cowboys, but also a share of the District 7-A title, the 1st for the Cowboys in 15 years, and the 1st play-off berth since 2001.

Friday's game will be a marquee match-up on the South Plains, as both teams will enter the game with identical 8-1 records. We need everyone's presence in Seagraves Friday night to help the Cowboys achieve their goal of reaching the play-offs in 2009! See You THERE!!!!
