PISD Student Handbook Letter of Receipt

by Nathan McCravey

June 01, 2009

PLAINS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
P.O. BOX 479
PLAINS, TEXAS 79355
Dear Parents:
The attached handbook and Code of Student Conduct describes procedures and regulations which we believe will help your student get the most out of his/ her education and which will ensure that the Plains schools remain a good place to learn.
At the heart of this information are policies passed by our Board of Trustees to guarantee a stable learning environment and the regulations necessary to execute those policies. The basic purpose of this handbook is to provide information vital to you and your student. Much of the text is devoted to defining acceptable patterns of conduct and appropriate consequences for failure to comply with these regulations. The state refers to this as a discipline management program.
Funding for the Plains Independent School District does rely on average daily attendance (ADA). For ADA accounting purposes, attendance is registered during the second period each day (9:00 to 10:00). It will be in the best interest of district taxpayers for you to arrange doctor, dentist, and other necessary appointments at a time of the day other than second period. We ask your cooperation to help our financial situation by encouraging your child to be in school if at all possible.
Your student is required to return to school this page, signed by you and your student. Your signature signifies that you have received this handbook and Student Code of Conduct and understand that students shall be held accountable for their behavior and consequences as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct at school, school sponsored and school related activities, including school sponsored travel. You also understand that any student who violates the Student Code of Conduct shall be subject to disciplinary action. This form is kept in your student’s folder. The handbook also contains regulations concerning the use of technology at school. These regulations, taken in total, form the district’s acceptable use policy. Your signature on this page also signifies that you understand that the student will be held accountable for improper use of the electronic communications and data that are made available to them and that you have read the information concerning the release of student records.
