Cowboys & Cowgirls:

It is hard to believe that we are beginning the second semester of this school year.   We had a successful first semester in Plains ISD.  Our volleyball team advanced to the playoffs, and both the girls and boys cross country teams advanced to regionals.  Our academic teams have been competing and doing well this fall and are preparing for the spring.  The seniors are receiving college acceptance letters, and we are excited for the opportunities that are ahead for our Class of 2018.

Cowboy and Cowgirl spirit and pride are evident as you walk through the halls of Plains High School, Plains Middle School, and Plains Elementary.  In our second year as an AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) District we are excited to continue exposing our students PreK-12 to a college-going culture and support system to promote high levels of achievement.  We hear comments that not all students will or should go to college, and that is exactly right; however, as educators, it is our job to prepare every student at the highest level, so whatever college or career path they choose when they graduate from Plains High School, they are well prepared and ready for success!  Plains High School has expanded College Board Advanced Placement coursework, and is preparing to add classes in the 2018-2019 school year.

If you have not had the opportunity to get involved by joining PTA or signing up to volunteer, we invite you to do so.  We are fortunate to have strong community support, and because of the community and school working together, we were able to provide gifts to deserving students through our 2nd Annual Project Cowboy Christmas.  Partnerships between the parents, community, and our schools greatly benefit our students.  Thank you to our parents and community for being involved and supporting the work of our students and employees.

As we enter the spring semester, we will continue to challenge our faculty, staff, and students to live up to our motto striving for excellence in all they do by having a commitment to success for all, a respect for hard work, and by using data-driven decisions based on what is best for all students.  We are proud and fortunate to have a School Board, faculty, and staff that works hard every day to ensure our students reach their fullest potential by believing that students are our number one resource, that all students are capable of learning and achieving at high levels, and by believing that the success of each student, teacher, and family is a direct reflection of high expectations.

I want to thank our faculty, staff, coaches, sponsors, and directors for their commitment and work to provide our students with opportunities to experience success at these levels.   I am honored to serve as the superintendent of schools for Plains ISD.  If I can help in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me.

It’s a great time to be in Plains ISD!  Go Cowboys & Cowgirls!
